In the age of technology and logic, pharmaceuticals and quick-fixes, it's all too easy to believe that we can think our way out of life’s problems. But underneath the thinking mind is a system far more fundamental and far more powerful. The seat of emotions: the limbic brain.

This feeling system is continuously governing what we can and cannot do. We move through life bounded within the walls of this invisible emotional container, and its limits are largely fixed from childhood.

The rigidity of this system explains why challenging relationship patterns tend to repeat over and over again, cravings and addictions are incredibly difficult to beat, incessant repetitive thinking often seems unmanageable, and anger or anxiety can be a constant, unwanted companion.

How in your life are you caught in unwanted patterns? What are you unable or unwilling to feel? Where is there a mismatch between what you want and what you do?

Join us for the first of several modules exploring the rich world of emotional intelligence through the lens of mindfulness. In this first series…

  • You will gain an understanding of how your relationship to emotions (or lack thereof) is limiting your freedom.
  • You will expand your capacity to choose by relating to your emotions in new and more skillful ways.
  • You will learn simple tools that actually work to unwind unwanted patterns of thinking and behavior.

In the long run, if you stick with it, you will find greater ease in relationships, a deeper capacity for empathy, and ever more comfort in the ebb and flow of life.

Registration also includes:

  • Scheduled one-on-one Skype calls/phone calls with the facilitator between sessions
  • Unlimited facilitator access as-needed.
  • Access to audio recordings of all classes, for review or in case of absence.

Each class will include new techniques, a period of guided meditation, and time for group discussion. The series is suitable for all levels of experience. I will be available to each student one-on-one, so no one feels overwhelmed or left behind.

What's the difference between this class and Relational Intelligence?
This class focuses on awakening one's own emotional awareness and providing tools to skillfully manage emotion as an individual. Relational Intelligence focuses on the partner/interactive aspect of mindfulness—tools that can be used in relationship. These classes can be taken in either order.
